Billy Talent sets up fall headlining trek

Punk-pop outfit Billy Talent will hit the road this summer for a US headlining run as the Canadian band supports its latest self-titled studio set.

The band, which is currently on tour with Rancid and Rise Against, a trip that continues tonight (7/24) in Baltimore, kicks off the headlining run Sept. 15 in Detroit. The outing currently shows 11 dates before the group heads overseas for a lengthy stretch before European audiences beginning in October. North American dates are shown below; the band's international itinerary can be found at Billy Talent's official website.

Released earlier this month, "Billy Talent III" continues a series of eponymous releases that began with the band's self-titled 2003 album, and continued on 2006's "Billy Talent II." The new set was produced by Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen).

A deluxe version of "Billy Talent III" will include a second disc with the guitar tracks removed from the songs so that fans can play along at home, along with four demo songs and guitar tabs for the complete album transcribed on a pair of full-size wall posters.

"We thought it was a really great idea and we always have guitar players on our website sharing tabs and talking about guitar playing," bassist Jonathan Gallant told music site UpVenue.com recently. "We run into other guitarists who tell us they really enjoy playing our songs. We thought it was a great way for people to jam along with it. There's a lot of good musicians out there."
